Marywood Opens Track Season at King's

Wilkes-Barre Twp., Pa. -- Marywood University opened its track and field season at the King's College Monarch Invite on Saturday. The Pacers won five individual events.

Jack Baronski won both the 800 and 1,500 runs. Baronski finished with a 2:02.14 in the 800 and a 4:15.78 in the 1,500.

Lany Straub ran the third-fastest time in Marywood history to win the 1,500. She completed the course in 4:57.35. Abby Adamsky was second in 5:54.1, and Cassandra Juliano crossed the finish in third at 6:11.64.

Kalie Fernandez-Naughton won the long jump in 14 feet, 8 inches. Cassidy Asinski was second in 14 feet, 3 3/4 inches.

Leah Zambetti measured a javelin throw at 115 feet, 2 inches for first place.

Joseph Cardillo came in second place in the 1,500 in 4:25.49. Will Canney ran a 4:27.65 for third.

Thomas O'Keefe completed the 5K in 18:30.48 for second place. Matthew Kokinda produced a 19:15.43 finish for third.

On the women's side, Asinski ran to a second place run in the 100 dash in 14.28 seconds. Abby Megotz was third in the 200 dash in 28.45 seconds. Megotz also ran the 400 in 1:04.07 for fourth place.

Tyler Hoysan was fifth in the 100 dash in 12.67 seconds and the 200 run in 25.99 seconds.

The men's 4x400 relay of Robert Russo, Brody Graff, Cardillo and Joseph Burke ran a 3:43.81 for third place.

Will Kalinich notched third in the discus in 35.86m and javelin in 45.22m. KC Nwokedi earned fourth place in the shot put (11.88m) and hammer (30.59m).

Emma Wagner was runner-up in the women's 100 hurdles in 22.53 seconds. Bella Auchenbach had a third-place showing of 21:50.41.

Marywood travels to Widener University this weekend.
