Men's Lacrosse Sinks King's in Overtime for Third Straight Win

Scibello breaks school career points record

Wilkes-Barre Twp., Pa. — Ricky Strobel scored the game-winning goal to give Marywood a 10-9 overtime men's lacrosse victory over King's College on Wednesday. The Pacers earned their third consecutive season and match last year's win total in just the fourth game of the 2025 campaign.

After killing a man-up advantage, Collin Trainor made a chest-high save to give Marywood possession. Following a successful clear, John Scibello fed Strobel a pass on the left side, and he fired a shot to the near post with 2:37 remaining in the overtime period.

Scibello broke the school record for career points. He had two goals and four assists for a program-best 185 points. Coming into the game tied for second all-time, Scibello surpassed Sam Trill with an assist to Ben Peters that cut the Pacers' deficit to 6-4 in the second quarter. He tied the record on an unassisted goal with 4:26 left.

Scibello set a new career mark with unassisted goal. His record setter put the Pacers within 7-6 at 5:44 left in the third.

Two minutes later, Scibello found Ben Meighan to even the score at 7-7. Dillon Kane tallied his first of the season to give Marywood its first lead of the game with 2:38 left in the third.

King's (0-3) roared back with a pair of goals to reclaim the lead. Brenden Lynch squared the score at 8-8 on a John Wall assist with 9:41 left. After Marywood had a non-releasable, two-minute penalty, King's scored a man-up goal on a Matt Dellapi goal from Jake Cierech with 2:16 on the scoreboard.

Shaun Howey sent the game to overtime with 17 seconds left. After giving up the draw, Dalton Gerver notched a ground ball to retain possession with 65 seconds to go. Lucas Wilson picked up a ground ball on a Meighan-saved shot, and Scibello dished an assist to Howey in front of the crease for the equalizer.

It marks Marywood's first overtime victory since a Feb. 21, 2019 win. The Pacers won that game 8-7 in double overtime on a Patrick Dingwell man-up goal.

The victory gives Marywood a 7-5 advantage in the series history.

Strobel finished with two goals and an assist. Howey had a pair of goals, and Meighan tallied a goal and an assist.

Luke Ament went 13 for 21 from the faceoff-x with nine ground balls.

Defensively, Gerver finished with five ground balls and Wilson picked up four ground balls. Nick Baker caused two turnovers and added four ground balls.

Both Marywood's Colin Trainor and Ryan Rickards amassed 15 saves.

King's was led by Cierech's three goals and an assist. Josh Hilpp caused three turnovers and gathered five ground balls.

The game was as even on the box score as it was on the scoreboard. Marywood had a 41-40 advantage in shots. Both teams had 15 saves. King's edged Marywood 43-38 in ground balls.

Marywood was a perfect 20 for 20 in clears. King's went 17 for 23.

It is Marywood's first three-game winning streak since 2023.
