Pacers Soar Past Eagles in Game Two, Splits Against Eastern

Pacers improve to 13-16

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University Pacers hosted the Eastern University Eagles Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader. The Pacers defeated the Eagles in game two, 12-7, after falling 10-4 in game one.
 
Game Two: Marywood 12, Eastern 7 

The Eagles jumped out to an early lead, grabbing two runs in the top half of the first inning. 

Marywood answered quickly in the bottom of the inning, scoring six runs of their own. 

After Christian Michak scored on a passed ball, Joel Ayers brought in Tristan Gatchalian to knot it at 2-2. 

Ayers then scored on an AJ Kuzior RBI single  just before Adam Ginsberg crossed the plate on a wild pitch. 

Tanner Vicendese knocked in Will Hudson and Kuzior with an RBI double to extend the Pacer lead to 6-2. 

In the top of the second, Eastern grabbed one back to make it 6-3. 

An RBI triple from Ayers began a second-inning scoring barrage for the Pacers. 

Ayers then scored on a throwing error, making it 8-3 in favor of Marywood. 

Later in the inning, Avery Wells recorded a two-RBI single, plating Kuzior and Ginsberg. 

Hudson then scored on a Michak fielder's choice, tallying the fifth run of the inning, extending the Pacer lead to 11-3. 

The Eagles chipped away at the Marywood lead, scoring three in the third and one in the fifth. 

Kuzior doubled home Ayers to add an insurance run for the Pacers, grabbing a 12-7 lead. 

Marywood totaled seven hits in the game, as Ayers and Kuzior each collected two. 

Six Pacers saw the mound in game two, with Michael Conoscenti (2-0) collecting the win. 

Adam Anderson struck out two Eagles in his single inning of work. 

Game One: Marywood 4, Eastern 10

The Pacers offense was led by Nick Ruiz, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI. 

The Pacers took the lead first, scoring on a passed ball. 

In the third inning, Eastern scored three runs to take the 3-1 lead. 

Marywood took the lead in the fourth. Ruiz kicked it off with a RBI single. The Pacers had bases loaded with Gatchalian up to bat. Gatchalian drew the walk, tying the game 3-3. AJ Giannetti followed with a sacrifice fly, giving the Pacers the lead. 

Eastern went on to score seven runs in the fifth to walk away with the 10-4 victory. 

Caleb Fisher started on the bump. In three innings of work, Fisher allowed two hits and three runs while walking four. 

Michael Aronica took the loss for the Pacers. 

Charlie Hamm and Kieran Beman each pitched an inning in relief, surrendering zero hits and zero runs. 

The Pacers will host the Neumann Knights on Friday to kick off the next conference series.
