Marywood Defeats Griffins in Series Opener

Saturday's doubleheader begins at 11:30am

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. — On Friday, the Marywood University baseball team opened up their final Atlantic East Conference series on the road against Gwynedd Mercy. The Pacers picked up a 3-2 victory. 

In the top of the third inning, the Pacers got on the board first when Nick Ruiz scored on an error. 

The Griffins tied it up in the bottom half on an RBI single. 

The Pacers regained the lead in the fifth, as Tristan Gatchalian laced a double to right center, scoring Evan Bruder. 

In the top of the seventh, Bruder hit a sacrifice fly, plating Christian Michak. This gave the Pacers a 3-1 lead. 

In the bottom half of the inning, Gwynedd Mercy scored on a RBI single, cutting the lead to 3-2. 

Adam Ginsberg led Marywood's offense, collecting two of the Pacers' seven hits. 

Danny Tiedemann (3-2) started on the bump for the Pacers, pitching 6.2 innings while allowing two hits and two runs. Tiedemann struck out three. 

Owen Reilly collected his third save of the season. Reilly surrendering one hit in 2.1 innings of work and sat down four Griffins. 

The Pacers will wrap up the regular season Saturday with a doubleheader against Gwynedd Mercy.
