Pacers Fall to Immaculata in Opening Round, Weather Delays Elimination Game Against Neumann

Marywood versus Neumann will resume at 10:30am, weather pending

Winchester, Va. — The Marywood University softball team traveled to Virginia for the Atlantic East Playoffs Saturday afternoon. No. 2 Marywood matched up with No. 3 Immaculata game one. The Pacers went on to fall to the Mighty Macs, 3-2, in eight innings. 

Game One: Marywood 2, Immaculata 3 (8 Inn.)

In the first inning, Immaculata took an early 2-0 lead. Jess Oldham singled to left field, scoring Bryele Anthony. Carlee Karcher followed with an RBI groundout. 

The Pacers went on to tie it in the fifth. Riley Knott drove a double to left center, scoring Riley Marshall. Renee McDonald hit a sacrifice fly later in the inning. 

Both teams were held in a stalemate after the fifth, forcing extra innings. 

Immaculata had the lead off runner on when Marley Sarafinko caught a liner, doubling off the Mighty Macs. 

With two outs, the Mighty Macs collected a single and a walk. Bryele Anthony hit an RBI single through the right side, giving Immaculata a 3-2 lead. 

In the bottom half of the inning, Jessica Hanley hit a lead off single. However, the Pacers were not successful in pushing the run across the plate, ultimately falling, 3-2. 

The Pacers collected eight hits in the contest. Hanley, Marshall, and Tori Para each collected two hits. 

Brianna Voyer (11-8) was in the circle for the Pacers. In eight innings, Voyer surrendered 10 hits, three earned runs, and three walks. The Pacer sat down two Immaculata batters. 

Riece Onorato (9-6) collected the win for the Mighty Macs. In eight innings, Onorato allowed eight hits, two earned runs, and four walks. Onorato fanned six Pacers. 

The Pacers will play in an elimination game against Neumann. 

Game Two: Marywood 2, Neumann 7 (Delayed, Top of the Fifth)

The game is in a weather delay. The Pacers are trailing 7-2 in the top of the fifth. Weather permitting, the game will resume Sunday morning at 10:30am.
