Barwick Nets Four to Lead Pacers Past Mustangs

Marywood earns first win of the 2025 season

Morrisville, N.Y. — Sophomore Brooke Barwick broke the Marywood University field hockey single-game points record. Marywood University field hockey ran away with its first victory of the season with a 6-2 victory over SUNY Morrisville on Sunday afternoon.

The Pacers even their record to 1-1 overall on the season. 

Barwick had a career-high four goals and an assist in the victory over SUNY Morrisville. Barwick surpassed the record for single-game points of eight, matching Leanne McManus (2014), Bonnie Bergen (2001), and Lauren Youngken (2023).

The Pacers scored first when Ava Peterson connected with Barwick, giving the Pacers a 1-0 lead. 

Morrisville tied it up in the 14th minute with a goal off the stick of Melissa Beaver. 

In the 20th minute, Dariane Jones notched her first goal of the season. She added a second late goal late in the game. 

The Mustangs responded in the 28th minute to knot it again at 2-2. 

Barwick responded with her second goal of the game, putting Marrywood ahead, 3-2 heading into halftime. 

The second half was controlled offensively by the Pacers. Barwick slashed her third and fourth goals of the game. Jones then added one more insurance goal to give Marywood the 6-2 victory. 

The Pacers outshot the Mustangs, 32-9. 

Marywood also had 18 penalty corners compared to SUNY Morrisville's seven. 

Bre Marchiano was in the cage for the Pacers, picking up her first collegiate win. Marchiano tallied three saves. 

The Pacers will be back at home Saturday, against Dean College.
