Pacers Blank the Beavers in 3-0 Victory

Salazar records first career shutout

Scranton, Pa. — On Saturday afternoon, the Marywood university men's soccer team played host to The City College of New York. The Pacers (3-5-1) took home the victory, shutting out the Beavers, 3-0.  

Following a foul in the box, Marywood got on the board first as Owen Clearwaters buried the penalty kick, giving the Pacers a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. 

Jared Sanborn added another tally for Marywood two minutes later, as he extended the lead to 2-0 in the 27th minute of play. 

The Pacers added another insurance goal in the 38th minute. Brian Marshall located Jadyn Sturniolo, who found the back of the net to put Marywood ahead 3-0.   

The City College of New York out-shot Marywood, 20-17. 

The Pacers did have one more shot on-goal than the Beavers, 10-9. 

The Beavers led in corner kick opportunities, 4-3. 

Jairo Salazar collected nine saves on the day for the Pacers. 

Carlos Garcia recorded seven saves for the Beavers.  

Marywood will look to build on the win at Moravian on Tuesday.
