Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University women's basketball team dropped a Saturday afternoon contest to the Centenary University by a 68-59 score. The Pacers fall to 9-10 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
After a tightly contested first quarter, Centenary began to pull away in quarter two.
The Cyclones took a 37-23 lead into the locker room.
Centenary grew the lead in the third.
The Pacers rallied late, out-scoring the Cyclones by ten in the final quarter of play, but would come up short, falling by nine.
Marywood shot 33.8 percent on the day in total, 26.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 56.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Megan Cavoli led the Pacers offensively, putting up a game-high 18 points.
Centenary faired better, shooting 46.3 percent overall, 31.3 percent from three, and 68.4 percent from the charity stripe.
The Cyclones were led by 16 points from Vatijah Davis.
Marywood out-rebounded Centenary, 39-33.
Anyah Ortiz led all players with 11 rebounds. In addition to her 13 points, Ortiz recorded her third double-double of the season.
The Pacers host Gwynedd Mercy for another conference matchup on Wednesday.
