Pacers Come Up Short Against Coast Guard

Ortiz tallies 13 points

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University women's basketball team hosted the US Coast Guard Academy (7-5), Sunday afternoon for the first game of the new year. The Pacers (5-6) fell to the Spars, 73-59. 

The Pacers were 22-60 (36.7 percent) from the field, 37.5 percent from three, and 9-12 (75.0 percent) from the charity stripe. 

The Spars were 40.5 percent from the field, 6-16 (37.5 percent) from three, and 5-14 (35.7 percent) from the free throw line. 

Marywood's offense was led by Anyah Ortiz, who tallied 13 points. 

Megan Cavoli and Mia Blume were also in the double digits, scoring 12 and 10 points respectively. 

Cavoli led the Pacers with six rebounds. 

The Spars were led by Dorothy Stotts, who put up 33 points. 

At the half, the Pacers were within five points of the Spars, 33-28. 

The Spars ran away with it in the second half, as the final score was 73-59.  

The Pacers were out-rebounded by the Spars, 50-36. 

Marywood will be back in action Wednesday against Centenary, with Atlantic East Conference play beginning.
