Pacers Strike in Second Half to Bounce Devils

Olivia Seidel finishes with a goal and an assist

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University posted two goals in less than five minutes to down FDU-Florham 2-0 Saturday in MAC Freedom field hockey. With the win, the Pacers improve to 9-7 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Olivia Seidel finished with a goal and an assist.

With just over a minute remaining in the third quarter, Seidel ended the scoreless drought. Brooke Barwick raced around the right flank to send a cross to the far side for Seidel to tap in for her second goal of the season.

In the 49th minute, Marywood doubled its lead on a Megan Jones goal. On a penalty corner chance, Seidel sent in a ball at the top of the circle and took a circuitous bounce off of a Devil stick. Jones came in and struck a 9-yard shot for her second of the year.

Bre Marchiano made two saves for her first shutout of the season.

Marywood outshot the Devils 21-6 with a 9-2 advantage in shots on target. The Pacers had an 8-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Through the first half, the Pacers led just 4-3 in shots. Marywood dominated with an 11-0 advantage in shots in the third quarter. The Pacers doubled the Devils 6-3 in attempts in the fourth quarter.

Marywood faces a decisive matchup with MAC Freedom playoff implications on Wednesday night. The Pacers travel to Misericordia University at 7 p.m.
