Women's Soccer Unraveled by Flying Dutchmen

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University were set by Lebanon Valley College in 3-0 loss Wednesday in MAC Freedom field hockey action. The Pacers dominated possession but were unable to put a ball into the net.

After possession was mostly in the LVC defensive for the first third of the game, Megan Ressler finished a give-and-go from Ashlynn Newton in the 36th minute.

In the 75th minute, Lebanon Valley took advantage of a misplay in the back to extend the lead. Abrielle Miller crossed from the right baselien to an open Jayme Beninda.

Miller added her second assist, giving Newton an opportunity in the 85th minute.

In the 60th minute, Riley Bittenbender hit a long-distance shot that escaped the goalkeeper. Officials said the ball was stopped before passing the baseline, ending the chances at an equalizer.

Genieve Morrison made 10 saves in the loss. The Flying Dutchmen's Camryn Porter had seven saves.

Lebanon Valley outshot Marywood 20-10 with a 13-7 advantage in shots on frame. Marywood led 6-4 in corner kicks.

Marywood (10-5-2, 2-4-1) has a chance to sneak into the MAC Freedom playoffs as a No. 4 or 5 seed. The Pacers will qualify with a win over DeSales at 4 p.m. on Halloween.
