Pacers Drop Cardinals on Myers' Game-Winner

Myers scores first career goal with 5:45 remaining

Scranton, Pa. — Freshman Phoebe Myers scored a game-winning goal with less than six minutes remaining to prop Marywood University to a 1-0 victory over St. John Fisher University Saturday in non-conference field hockey action. The Pacers improve their record to 6-4 overall before beginning their MAC Freedom slate.

With 5:45 remaining in a scoreless game, Myers scored the lone goal of the game. Olivia Seidel hit a shot that was kicked out by the keeper. Emma Toth retrieved the ball and sent a cross to the far end of the circle. Myers drove a shot forward from 5 yards out for her career goal.

Toth was credited with her fourth assist of the season.

Sabrina Frazer notched a shutout with five saves. Following Myers' go-ahead goal, Frazer made three saves in the final stretch — including two stops in the final 1:14 of regulation.

Marywood outshot the Cardinals by a 20-9 margin with a 13-5 advantage in shots on target. The Pacers tripled St. John Fisher 6-2 in penalty corners.

Morgan Parrinello made 11 saves for the Cardinals. Evelyn Ryan had one defensive save on a Brooke Barwick shot in the 37th minute. Parrinello stopped a penalty stroke in the second minute.

Marywood welcomes Lebanon Valley College in its MAC Freedom opener Wednesday at 4 p.m.
