Lennox Earns Singles Win as Pacers Fall to Scranton

Scranton, Pa.- Marywood University men's tennis dropped a 6-1 decision to the University of Scranton on Monday afternoon.

The Pacers battled the Royals in doubles play, but Scranton captured all three matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles competition.

At No. 1 doubles, Zane Smoker and Gavin Gagliardi fell to Ethan Borick and Lucas Kotcho, 6-4. Alex Corcoran and Isaac Carpenter also battled at No. 2 doubles before falling to Harrison Clark and Anthony Polomene, 6-4. At No. 3 doubles, Gavin Massey and Eddie Lennox were defeated by Alexander Harrison and Benjamin Blum, 6-0.

Scranton continued to build its advantage in singles play, claiming five of the six matches.

Gagliardi fell to Kotcho at No. 1 singles, 6-0, while Corcoran dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision to Clark at No. 2. Smoker was defeated by Harrison at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-3.

Carpenter battled Blum in a competitive No. 4 singles match. After splitting the first two sets, Carpenter ultimately fell in a third-set, 10-point tiebreaker, 10-5.

Massey fell to Polomene, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 5 singles, while Lennox picked up Marywood's lone team point at No. 6 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Matthew Bene.

The Pacers will look to bounce back Saturday when they host Susquehanna University at 1 p.m.
