Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University baseball team opened the 2026 season with a 9–4 loss on the road against the University of Scranton on Tuesday afternoon.
Marywood finished with 12 hits and played error-free defense, but Scranton used a six-run first inning to gain early control of the contest.
After falling behind 6–0, the Pacers answered in the third inning. Evan Bruder reached base and Adam Ginsberg singled before Ethan Reccek drove in both runners with a two-run single to right field.
Marywood added a run in the seventh inning when Mike Biskup scored on a fielder's choice, and closed the scoring in the ninth. Pinch hitter Ethan Levine singled and later scored, while Coleman McCain delivered an RBI single to make it 9–4.
Josh Ayers led Marywood at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, while Cam Bott added two hits and a stolen base.
On the mound, Austin Bausman and Max Ryan combined to allow just one run over four innings of relief.
Marywood returns to action later this week as the Pacers continue their early-season road schedule.
