Brooklyn, N.Y. — The Marywood University men's basketball team dropped a 74-65 decision to Pratt Institute in an Atlantic East Conference game Saturday in New York City.
Collin Himmelberg led Marywood with 14 points and six rebounds. Andrew Quinn matched him with 14 points.
Shilo Bivins added 12 points.
Marywood (11-10, 4-6 Atlantic East) trailed 34-30 at halftime and was outscored 40-35 in the second half.
Pratt (11-10, 3-7 Atlantic East) shot 43.1% from the field. It held advantages in second-chance points (21-10) and points in the paint (38-24).
Kurt Thomas paced Pratt with 17 points and seven rebounds. Mekhi Davis added 12 points and nine rebounds. Thomas Prendergast finished with eight points, 10 rebounds and five steals. Cameron Hatcher scored 13 bench points.
Pratt opened with a seven-point run fueled by Kurt Thomas free throws and transition plays, building an early 11-2 lead.
Marywood tied it at 16-16 on Shilo Bivins' layup at 8:40.
Pratt closed the half on a 10-3 run (from 23-24 to 30-34), including a fast-break dunk by Thomas and a jumper by Hatcher, to take a four-point halftime lead.
Marywood responded with a 10-1 run to cut it to a six-point game, thanks to Quinn's fast-break layup and 3-pointer. Ty Cheney's 3-pointer closed it to a four-point game with 4:57 remaining.
Himmelberg's 3-pointer at 2:53 pulled Marywood to 66-65. Pratt answered with free throws and a late layup by Prendergast to secure the win, outscoring Marywood 8-0 over the final 2:04 after the timeout.
Marywood hosts Immaculata University on Wednesday.
