Baseball Tops Regent Behind Strong Pitching

Scranton, Pa.- The Marywood University baseball team capped off its three-game series with Regent University as they took down the Royals 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Marywood (9-6) struck early and never trailed, getting on the board in the second inning when Joel Ayers launched a solo home run down the right-field line. Later in the frame, Tanner Vicendese added a sacrifice fly to plate Ethan Reccek and give the Pacers a 2–0 advantage.

Regent (10-10) chipped away in the middle innings. Keegan Hager delivered an RBI single in the fourth, and a sacrifice fly from Jayden Alvarez in the fifth evened the score at 2–2.

But Marywood responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning, capitalizing on a defensive miscue before Evan Bruder's RBI single restored a one-run lead.
Marywood added insurance in the sixth when Connor Rasimovich lifted a sacrifice fly to score AJ Kuzior. Rasimovich came through again in the eighth, ripping a double down the left-field line to bring home Dayton Aguiar and cap the scoring.

Rasimovich led the Pacers offensively with two hits and two RBIs, while Ayers also drove in a run and scored. Bruder chipped in with an RBI single, and Reccek reached base and scored during the decisive second inning rally.

Starting pitcher Danny Tiedeman worked five innings to earn the win and improve to 3-0. The right-hander allowed two runs on six hits while striking out four. Noah Trager took over in the sixth and shut the door, tossing four scoreless innings and limiting Regent to just two hits for the save.

Marywood continues its homestand on Tuesday when they host King's College at 4 p.m.
