Men’s Lacrosse Cruises to 10-4 Win Over Delaware Valley

Doylestown, Pa.- The Marywood University men's lacrosse team built a commanding lead through three quarters and cruised to a 10-4 victory over Delaware Valley University on Saturday afternoon.

The Pacers (5-5) controlled the game from the opening faceoff, using a fast start and relentless possession advantage to put Delaware Valley (0-7) on its heels early. Marywood outscored the Aggies 3-1 in the first quarter and never looked back, stringing together six unanswered goals across the second and third periods to take a 9-1 lead.

Ben Meighan led the offensive surge with a hat trick and an assist, while Ricky Strobel matched him with three goals of his own. Osten Grigas added two goals, and Mitchell Thompson and Dominic Cottone each found the back of the net once.

Marywood's early edge was fueled by efficiency on special teams and dominance in the middle of the field. The Pacers converted both of their extra-man opportunities and controlled faceoffs, winning 13 of 18, with Luke Ament going 13-for-17. That possession advantage translated into a 43-20 shot margin and a 40-26 edge in ground balls.

After Meighan opened the scoring with a man-up goal midway through the first quarter, Grigas struck twice in a three-minute span to give Marywood a 3-0 cushion. Delaware Valley answered late in the quarter, but the Pacers quickly reasserted control.

Strobel ignited the second quarter with an early goal, and Meighan added another man-up tally before Thompson pushed the lead to 6-1 heading into halftime.

The third quarter removed any doubt. Cottone scored just 42 seconds in, Strobel added his second of the day off a Meighan assist, and Meighan completed his hat trick later in the period.

Marywood goalkeeper Colin Trainor earned the win, allowing just one goal and making a save over three quarters of work. Gavin Ammlung played in the fourth quarter and made five saves while conceding three late goals as Delaware Valley attempted to rally.

The Aggies showed life in the final period, scoring three times, including two goals from Kieran Schneider, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.

Despite committing 21 turnovers, Marywood's defensive pressure forced 33 from Delaware Valley, consistently disrupting clears and limiting offensive rhythm.

Marywood hosts Misericordia University Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
