Davis Records 100th Career Hit in Split with Penn State Harrisburg

Scranton, Pa.- Marywood University softball split a nonconference doubleheader Thursday, dropping the opener 6‑2 to Penn State Harrisburg before bouncing back to claim a 2‑1 win in the nightcap.

Game One: Penn State Harrsiburg 6, Marywood 2
Penn State Harrisburg struck first in the opening frame with an RBI sacrifice bunt, but Marywood quickly responded in the bottom half. Marissa Hoffman tied the game with an infield single, and Renee McDonald followed with a sacrifice fly to give the Pacers the lead.

Penn State Harrisburg evened the score in the second as Sierra Sims crossed the plate on a fielding error. After scoreless third and fourth innings from both teams, the Nittany Lions regained the lead when Sims drove in a run with a groundout.

The sixth inning brought crucial run support, as Aspen Walker delivered a two-run single up the middle, extending the lead to 5-2. Marywood added an insurance run in the seventh on a Kierstyn Smith sacrifice fly, sealing the 6-2 victory.

Four Pacers recorded one hit apiece in the contest. Brianna Voyer took the loss, allowing six runs (two earned) on 10 hits while striking out eight and walking four in a complete game effort.

Game Two: Penn State Harrisburg 1, Marywood 2
The Pacers broke through in the third inning when Riley Marshall belted a solo home run to left field for a 1–0 lead. In the fourth, Marshall delivered again with a sacrifice fly that scored McDonald and pushed the advantage to 2–0.

Penn State Harrisburg's lone run came in the seventh on an RBI single by Madisen Minney that brought home Ashley Elefante, but the late rally fell short as the Pacers held on for the one‑run victory.

Kat Davis was the only Pacer to record multiple hits. She notched her 100th career hit with an infield single in the sixth inning.

Marywood starter Emily Dubisz was dominant in the circle, firing a complete game and scattering six hits while allowing just one unearned run and striking out one to earn the win.

The Pacers (6-5) open Atlantic East Conference play on Saturday at Immaculata.
