Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Marymount in Atlantic East Semifinals

Arlington, Va.- The Marywood University men's lacrosse team's season came to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Pacers fell to top-seeded Marymount University, 11-5, in the Atlantic East Conference semifinal.

Marymount seized control early, scoring six times in the opening quarter and adding three more goals in the second to build a commanding 9-0 halftime lead. Santino Rossitto led the Saints' attack with five goals and two assists.

The Pacers struggled to generate offense in the opening half despite putting nine shots on goal over the first two periods. Marymount goalkeeper Connor Howard made several key saves to keep Marywood off the board, while the Saints capitalized on possessions by winning 12 of 20 faceoffs and holding a 23-15 edge in ground balls.

Marywood showed resilience coming out of the break, finding the back of the net three times in the third quarter. Ricky Strobel opened the scoring for the Pacers, and Alexander Votra followed with back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to 9-3 midway through the period.

However, Marymount responded with two more goals from Rossitto to halt the momentum and extend the lead to 11-3 heading into the fourth.

The Pacers continued to compete in the final quarter, getting goals from Shaun Howey and Owen Kelly, but were unable to close the gap further.

Votra led Marywood with two goals on nine shots, while Strobel added a goal and five shots on target. Joseph Keller recorded the team's lone assist. In net, Colin Trainor made eight saves.

Marywood finished with a 30-35 deficit in shots and went 0-for-3 on extra-man opportunities. Marymount converted one of its three chances with the man advantage.

With the loss, the Pacers conclude their season at 6-11 overall, while Marymount advances to the Atlantic East Conference championship game.
