Baseball Blanks Saint Elizabeth Behind Tiedemann’s Gem

Scranton, Pa.- The Marywood University baseball team erupted for eight runs over the final two innings to pull away for a 10-0 victory over Saint Elizabeth University on Wednesday afternoon.

Marywood (15-9, 4-2) wasted little time getting on the board, manufacturing a run in the first inning when Joel Ayers delivered an RBI single to score Adam Ginsberg. The Pacers added another in the third as Ginsberg came through with an RBI single of his own.

The game broke open in the sixth inning when Marywood sent nine men to the plate and scored four runs. Watson Church started the rally with an RBI single, followed by a run-scoring fielder's choice from Tanner Vicendese. Cam Bott delivered the big blow of the inning with a two-run single to center.

Marywood continued to pour it on in the seventh, capitalizing on control issues and defensive miscues. Ginsberg came around to score on a throwing error, while Mike Biskup drew a bases-loaded walk to force in another run. Vicendese added a sacrifice fly, and Evan Bruder capped the scoring with an RBI fielder's choice as the Pacers plated four more runs without recording a hit in the frame.

Bott led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while Ginsberg scored twice and drove in a run. Ayers reached base three times, scoring twice and adding an RBI, and Vicendese contributed two RBIs.

Danny Tiedemann tossed a complete game shutout as he scattered three hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking just one to improve to 5-0 on the season.

The Pacers host Cairn University tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
