Softball Concludes Season with Narrow Setback to Neumann

Arlington, Va.- The No. 3 seed Marywood University softball team concluded its 2026 season with a narrow 5-4 defeat to second seed Neumann University Sunday afternoon in the Atlantic East Conference semifinals at Barcroft Park.

The Pacers came out swinging, plating two runs in the opening frame. After Marley Sarafinko singled, Tori Para delivered an RBI triple down the right-field line before Amber Little followed with a run-scoring double to center, giving Marywood a 2-0 advantage.

Marywood added to its lead in the second inning, manufacturing a run on a sacrifice fly from Kat Davis to make it 3-0.

Neumann responded with a game-changing rally in the bottom half of the inning. The Knights scored four runs on five hits, capitalizing on a Marywood error and a pair of wild pitches to take a 4-3 lead. Natalie Jairdullo highlighted the inning with a two-RBI performance, while Ellie Zarnawski added an RBI single.

After the explosive second, both teams settled in as pitching and defense took over. Marywood starter Brianna Voyer limited further damage through the middle innings, but Neumann tacked on an important insurance run in the fifth when Jairdullo drove in Dakota Marshall with a single to center, extending the lead to 5-3.

The Pacers threatened late, putting together a rally in the seventh inning. Davis and Sarafinko each singled to set the table, and Para came through again with an RBI single to cut the deficit to one.

With runners in scoring position, however, Marywood was unable to deliver the tying hit, as Neumann pitcher Marina Costello induced a game-ending out to seal the victory.

Marywood finished with 11 hits in the loss, led by multi-hit efforts from Davis, Sarafinko, Para, and Lauryn Notari. Para drove in two runs, while Little also added an RBI.

Voyer took the loss in the circle, allowing five runs, four earned, on eight hits over six innings.

The Pacers capped their season with a 20-16 mark.
