Marshall Threatens Greyhounds with Late Golazos

Ryan Schweigart makes seven saves

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University men's soccer nearly came back from three-goal deficit in the final eight minutes in a 3-2 loss to Moravian University on Wednesday. The Pacers even their record to 3-3-2 overall on the season.

Brian Marshall scored a pair of 35-yard goals within a four-minute span to marshal the Pacers' comeback effort. 

In the 83rd minute, Marshall hit a 35-yard screamer that landed inside the right post. Four minutes later, he hit a free kick from 36 yards away that slipped out of the goalkeeper's hands just below the crossbar. 

Marywood nearly added an equalizer in the late stages. Jason Camardo sent a thruball that create a 1v1 chance for Ryan Konarski. Konarski's touch was unable to get by an attacking Moravian keeper Peter Louvaris. 

Moravian scored twice in the opening 13 minutes of play. Colin Woehlcke headed a Giuseppe Propato cross in the 10th minute. Propato added another assist when his shot caromed off the cross bar, allowing Enzo Petruzelli to hit a low-right shot from 10 yards out for the 2-0 lead. 

Propato added to his point production with a penalty kick goal in the 45th minute. 

Moravian outshot the Pacers by a 20-12 margin with a 10-6 advantage in shots on target. The Greyhounds tripled the Pacers 9-3 in corner kicks. 

Ryan Schweighart made seven saves for the Pacers. Louvaris had four saves. 

Marywood opens Middle Atlantic Conference play on Saturday at Arcadia University.
