Men's Cross Country Finishes Second Overall at Misericordia Invitational

Joelle Ruccio takes third in the women's race

Dallas Twp., Pa. — The Marywood University men's cross country team kicked off its season with a runner-up finish at the Misericordia Invitational on Friday. The women's cross country team did not receive a team score.

In the men's race, the Pacers ran an average 4K time of 13:19. Marywood recorded 45 points, ahead of MAC Freedom rivals Misericordia (61) and King's (113). University of Scranton edged the Pacers for the top spot with 38 points and an average 13:13 finish.

Joelle Ruccio was third overall in the women's race with a time of 15:51.3. Kimberly Smyser was 39th in 19:11.6.

Ruccio's time was the Pacers' fastest Misericordia Invitational time since future Hall of Famer Emma Doughman's run in 2015.

Freshman Adam Gaidos also third place in the men's race with a 12:56.9 finish. Fabian Sosa completed the course in fifth place in 13:04.4.

The Pacers' Luke McEvoy garnered eighth place with a mark of 13:19.7. Raidan Francis ran a 13:37.6 for 14th place overall.

Ethan Williams clocked in at 13:39.5 for 17th place, trimming 2.5 seconds off of last year's run. Jacob Walsh produced a 13:50.4 time for 23th place, knocking 3 seconds off of his previous best 4K time.

Austin Price (14:19.8), Wil Canney (14:27.9), Aidan Corcoran (14:49.2), Jadyn Sturniolo (14:59.6) and Brady Hopkins (16:16.5) competed for the Pacers.

Marywood will run next weekend at Dickinson College.
