Men's Soccer Drop 3-0 Decision to Elizabethtown

 Elizabethtown, Pa.- The Marywood University men's soccer team fell to Elizabethtown College 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Hoover Field.

The Pacers battled throughout the opening half, but Elizabethtown broke through late in the period when Chase Ballinger scored an unassisted goal in the 40th minute to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Marywood looked to answer early in the second half, but Elizabethtown extended its lead in the 58th minute. Cam Paris found the back of the net off assists from Gui Yamamoto and Caba Alvarez to make it a 2-0 game.

The Blue Jays added an insurance goal in the 78th minute when Alvarez converted a pass from Owen Auchenbach, completing the scoring and securing the victory.

Marywood finished with nine shots, including three on goal, while Elizabethtown recorded 12 shots and nine shots on target. The Pacers earned two corner kicks compared to four for the Blue Jays.

Ryan Schweigart made six saves in goal for Marywood. Elizabethtown goalkeeper Logan Sumner recorded three saves to earn the shutout.

Marywood (0-1-1) continues its road stretch following Labor Day, traveling to Susquehanna University on Wednesday, Sept. 9, for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
