The well-known Gary Custer begins his first season in 2023-2024 with the Pacers. The twenty-three year coaching veteran recently retired from an amazing career at Tunkhannock High School. Coach Custer will serve as the assistant hitting coach.

Custer began his coaching career as the head junior varsity coach at Tunkhannock High School in 2001. From 2009 through 2023, Custer served as the head varsity coach at Tunkhannock. During his run, the Tigers won six league titles, two district championships and one state runner-up. During that span, Custer sent over 70 players on to the collegiate level, including Mike Papi and Rich Condeelis who would both eventually be drafted by Major League Baseball teams.

In addition to coaching at the high school level, Gary spent ten years as the manager of the Tunkhannock American Legion team which advanced to the Pennsylvania State Regionals three times in that period. Coach Custer resides in Tunkhannock with his wife, Linda. They are the proud parents of daughters, Brittany and Jenna as well as their son Wesley who played for his father at the high school level before lettering at Mansfield University.
