Brian Osborne was named the Marywood University head men's soccer coach, Director of Athletics and Recreation Andrew Smith announced Friday. Osborne will take over the Pacers for the 2025 season.

Osborne previously served as the head coach at Central Penn College in the Harrisburg area. Over three seasons, Osborne led the Knights to a 33-17-1 record with a .657 winning percentage.

"First I want to thank our search committee members — President Emeritus Sister Mary Persico, Dean Shelby Yeager, and Women's Soccer Coach Rich Owens —  for the numerous hours they spent helping to select the right fit for not only the team, but the Department and University as well," Smith said. "The type of culture Coach Osborne has built with his past teams was evident to the committee throughout the interview process.

"He is a genuine person with high expectations of himself and his teams — on and off the field — which is exactly the type of leader this program needs and exactly what Brian can provide. The committee and myself have no doubt that given time, Brian will have this program back atop the AEC and competing regionally."

Osborne took Central Penn to back-to-back ESAC regular season titles and an ESAC conference tournament last season. In 2024, Central Penn finished as runner-ups at the USCAA Division II National Championship.

He was selected the USCAAA Division II National Coach of the Year in 2023. Osborne earned ESAC Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2023 and 2024. In three seasons, Osborne coached 11 USCAA All-Americans.

"If you asked me three years ago if I was going to be the next head coach at Marywood University, I would have asked you to wake me up," Osborne said. "It's a dream and career goal of mine to land at institution whose core values align so well with my own.

"My staff and I will dedicate ourselves to leading these gentlemen into a new era of Marywood Men's Soccer. My ultimate goal is to instill as many high-character qualities in my student-athletes as possible whiling building a competitive program that once was an Atlantic East Conference powerhouse. Representing the Marywood community, playing the game the right way, and creating leaders of the future are at the forefront — I'm excited to get started!"

Prior to coaching collegiately, Osborne served as a boys soccer head coach at Cedar Cliff and Trinity (Camp Hill) high schools. He was also Cedar Cliff's track and field head coach for nine seasons.

He also served as an Admissions Outreach Coordinator at Central Penn. He helped the college develop and launch a sports management concentration within the Business Administration program.

Osborne was a two-year starter at Misericordia University. He was an invited walk-on at Temple University before an injury ended his playing career.

At Misericordia, Osborne was USTFCCCA All-Region performer in the 200- and 400-meter runs. He competed for the Owls' men's track and field teams at Temple.

Osborne is a former high school science and elementary physical education teacher in Harrisburg schools. He worked as an inventory management specialist for the United States Navy and an office manager at the Harrisburg City Islanders soccer team.

Osborne received a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Recreational Management from Temple University in 2011. He will also serve as Coordinator of Athletic Facilities in the Athletic Department with oversight of scheduling and rentals.Â
