Peter Davenport was named the Marywood University men's tennis head coach for the 2018-19 season. Davenport previously has served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Marywood cross country and track and field teams for the past three seasons.
As a volunteer assistant, Davenport oversaw the Pacers to four Colonial States Athletic Conference cross country championships. Between the four sports, he was apart of six CSAC runner-up teams.
Davenport has spent several years of his professional career in athletics. He was the operations manager of the Vail Athletic Club & Spa in Colorado, also serving as a fitness and climbing instructor in his four years at the facility. Davenport was an instructor at the NJ Rock Gym in Wayne, N.J. and the sole proprietor of PMD Outdoor Fitness in Morris Plains, N.J.
He spent eight years in human resources at Corinthian Colleges, Inc. in Santa Ana, Calif. and Laramie, Wy. Currently, he is a sharpener and artist for Sharp Edge in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Davenport is a long-distance runner, finishing second in his age group at the 2016 Scranton Half Marathon. His cross counter and track photography has been published frequently on the Marywood athletics website.
Davenport holds a bachelor degree in economics from Muhlenberg College in 1987. He resides in Lake Ariel.
