Dr. Elizabeth McGill

  • Title
    Volunteer Assistant Women's Soccer Coach
Elizabeth McGill, Ph.D., a 2006 graduate of Marywood University and four-year letter-winner at midfield with the Pacers, begins her 12th season as an assistant coach with the women's soccer program in 2019.  McGill, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, served as team-captain for the Pacers during her senior campaign in 2005 and has been on the staff since the 2008 season.

Originally from Elmira, New York, McGill and her fellow 2006 graduates enjoyed an "up and down" collegiate career while with the Pacers.  In McGill's freshman year, the Pacers went 14-5 and posted the best record in school history.  However, over the next two years the team faced numerous challenges and injuries and stood at 2-15 after the 2004 season.  In McGill's senior year, however, the Pacers enjoyed the 14th best turnaround in the entire country and went 7-10 and made the conference playoffs with a 5-5 record.

McGill’s training and presence resulted in several records and honors for Marywood's keepers.  Goalkeeper Meghan Coyle ('11) earned Conference Tournament MVP honors in 2008 and followed with a First Team All-Conference selection in 2009.  In 2010, Coyle collected a program record 14 solo shutouts while helping the team to 15 clean slates overall and an ECAC South Region title, won in penalty kicks.  McGill’s expertise helped Marywood rank 10th in the country as a team for shutout percentage that year and Coyle only allowed two goals in conference play in 2010 and shut out 9 of 10 opponents.  McGill recently worked with Emily Osborne (2011 Second Team All-Conference) and Victoria Pezdirtz (2013 First Team All-Conference, 2012 Honorable Mention) and currently helped Aly Moyer earn Second Team All-Conference accolades in 2015 and 2017 and Honorable Mention honors in 2016.

After completing her undergraduate degree at Marywood, McGill went on to St. John's University in New York where she earned her Master's Degree in American History in 2008.

McGill currently serves as a Regional Education Specialist at The Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton.  McGill completed her Ph.D. in Human Development with a specialization in Higher Education Administration at Marywood where the title of her dissertation was "Predictors of Bullying Victimization on a College Campus." McGill also serves at TCMC as Assistant Professor of Family Medicine in the Department of Clinical Sciences.

McGill earned both her Goalkeeper Level I and Goalkeeper Level II coaching diplomas from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (now United Soccer Coaches).Â
