John Masten enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Marywood Univeristy men's and women's tennis teams in 2026.
Masten previously spent three years as the head coach of both the men’s and women’s tennis programs at Keystone College. He led the Giants’ men’s team to the 2019 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship and coached the conference’s 2019 Women’s Tennis Player of the Year.
As a student-athlete at Keystone, Masten earned Honorable Mention All-CSAC honors in singles as a sophomore. He was also named to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team as a junior and the CSAC All-Academic Team as a freshman. He concluded his collegiate career ranked among the program’s top performers, finishing tied for eighth in overall wins and seventh in conference wins. Masten also ranks seventh all-time in both overall and conference singles wins and remains in the top 10 in multiple categories, including single-season and career performances in both singles and doubles.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Masten served as a tennis instructor at the Delaware Youth Center for three years, where he provided both introductory and advanced instruction while emphasizing skill development, sportsmanship, and leadership. He also worked for four years as a sports counselor, camp leader, and lifeguard at the center.
Masten has been actively involved in his community, coaching youth basketball and soccer, volunteering with the Red Cross, and serving on the Youngsville Environmental Committee.
A two-sport athlete at Keystone, Masten also competed on the track & field team for two seasons. He graduated in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in business along with a minor in sport and recreation management.
