Kathleen Maguire is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Marywood University women’s basketball team. She brings more than two decades of playing, coaching, administrative, and educational leadership experience to the Pacers.
A standout player at Dunmore High School, Maguire played for legendary coach Ross Macciocco, father of head women’s basketball coach Tara Macciocco. She made history at Dunmore as the first female athlete to have her jersey number retired, a distinction later shared by Tara Macciocco, who became the second female athlete in school history to receive the honor.
Maguire continued her playing career at Bloomsburg University, where she was part of a highly successful Huskies program that compiled a remarkable 98-19 record during her four-year career. Bloomsburg advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, and during Maguire’s career, the Huskies went undefeated through the regular season on two occasions.
Maguire was inducted into the Bloomsburg Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007.
Following her playing career, Maguire began a successful coaching career at Rising Sun High School in Maryland, where she spent 12 years leading the program. During her tenure, she was named County Coach of the Year three times. She also served as the 2A East Regional Tournament Director for the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA), contributing to the administration and development of high school basketball in the state.
Maguire has also held prominent leadership roles within the coaching profession. She served as Vice President of the Maryland Basketball Coaches Association from 2016 through 2026 and was a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Board of Directors from 2022-25.
In addition to her extensive basketball background, Maguire has pursued a career in education and school leadership. She holds master’s degrees in Educational Administration and History and is pursuing a Doctorate in Education in School Leadership, which she anticipates completing in December 2026. She currently serves as the principal of All Saints Academy in Scranton.
Basketball remains a family affair for Maguire. Her oldest child, Tyler, serves as a student assistant coach at Misericordia University. Her daughter, Allison, plays basketball at Bryn Mawr College, while her son, Logan, is set to begin his collegiate career as a member of the men’s basketball team.
