Jason Beabout, Eddie Sanborn were the top two finishers in the 1,000 free Men's Swimming Takes Down Rival Scranton, 159-132 Men's Swimming and Diving - 11/22/2014 4:35:00 PM Meet ResultsScranton, PA - The Marywood University men's swimming and diving team earned a key 159-132 win over cross-town rival The University of Scranton Saturday at the Marywood Aquatics Center. The Pacers women's team fell to the Royals 213-86.For the men, it marks the second consecutive season they earned a win over Scranton. Marywood moves to 6-2 overall with a 2-1 mark in conference play. The women fall to 4-4 overall and 1-2 against Landmark opponents.Jason Beabout enjoyed a tremendous day with wins in the 500 free and 1,000 free. He also earned an important second-place finish in the 200 free, 55-hundreths of a second (1:49.79) behind winner Zack Haney. Beabout won the 1,000 free with a time of 10:41.97, leading a 1-2-3 Pacer finish ahead of Eddie Sanborn III (10:45.91) and DJ Boyer (10:49.02). Beabout was just six-hundreths of a second shy of dipping below the 5-minute mark in the 500 free. Joseph Buderwitz followed in second to spirit a 15-point race.Marywood's divers outdid themselves, taking three of the four events. Peter Inirio took the 1-meter with a 159.75. The Pacers took the top two spots in the men's 3-meter. Thomas Muscarllo registered a 159.25, and Inirio claimed second with a 153.The women's team's lone win came on the 3-meter board, taking the top three places on the podium. Heather Wimmer scored a 217.6 to take the event. Courtney Snyder and Katy Alexander followed in second and third, respectively.Haney was a multi-event winner. He finished just ahead of Beaubout in the 200 free (1:49.24) and raced to first in the 200 back at 2:05.14.Buderwitz narrowly defeated teammate Bryon Scholl in the 200 fly at 2:12.19. Dan Adams won the 100 back by 36-hundreths of a second in 56.15 seconds.The 200 free relay team of Blake Burlingame, Scholl, Adams and Anthony Pisano won in 1:27.83. Scholl and Adams, in particular, stepped it up to take the only Pacers' relay win of the meet.Receiving second-place finishes on the women's side were Virginia Cobb in the 200 and 500 free (2:06.42, 5:38.21), Kayleigh Velott in the 100 back (1:09.93), Tricia Caiati in the 200 fly (2:37.37), Julissa Quezada in the 100 free (58.19).Both Pacers teams return to the water Dec. 6-7 at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Invitational in Massachusetts.Print Friendly Version
