Youngman Leads Women's Soccer Past Elmira, 4-1

Elmira, N.Y. - Julie Youngman had a goal and an assist and for a sixth straight game Marywood had a different goal scorer account for all tallies as the Pacers beat host Elmira College 4-1 in non-conference women's soccer action on a soaked grass field on Elmira's campus.

Marywood improved to 7-5 on the year with the win while the Soaring Eagles fell to 1-9-1.

The last time Marywood had multiple goals scored by the same player was in their 8-0 win over Clarks Summit September 27. Since then, the Pacers have scored multiple goals in five of six games and each of those games saw different players find the back of the net.

Aly Barlok scored 7:28 into the contest on a long shot from 25 yards out on the left flank.  The shot dipped towards the ground, and, with the wet grass, slid by the Elmira keeper an into the far right netting.

Despite controlling much of the first half action, Marywood could not find a cushion until the 31st minute when Youngman picked off a defender who slipped and took the loose ball 40 yards straight down the middle before burying her team-leading 10th goal of the year.

Just after halftime, Emily Kotcho and Jackie VonItter hooked up for a textbook cross and finish.  Kotcho received the ball 35 yards out on the right flank and sent a cross in right to the six yard line where VonItter met it with her head on a beautiful finish that put the Pacers up 3-0.

In the 75th minute Youngman beat a defender down the left sideline and ripped a shot that the Soaring Eagle's netminder could not handle, and Grace Feeser was right there to put the ball home in an empty net.

Elmira would spoil the visitor's shutout bid in the 86th minute when Sara Kazerouni scored her second goal of the year off an assist from Jordyn Rousselle.

Marywood's Aly Moyer made two saves in nearly 75 minutes of action without allowing a goal.  Bella DiToma made one stop in the final 15:27.  Elmira's Rachel Grampp had a game-high 11 stops for the hosts.

Youngman had 12 of Marywood's 26 shots on goal, eight of which she placed on frame.  Marywood had 15 shots on goal in all.

Marywood travels to Baltimore Saturday in search of their fourth straight win as they take on Notre Dame of Maryland University in CSAC action at 1:00 pm.
