Youngman, Moken Lead Women's Soccer Past Neumann

Aston, Pa. - Julie Youngman scored two first half goals and Renae Moken had two second half tallies as Marywood University downed host Neumann University 4-1 in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.

Marywood, who got two assists from Desi Rill and one helper from Jackie VonItter, improved to 10-5 overall and 9-1 in the league.  The Knights fell to 6-7-1 (5-4-1 CSAC).  Neumann currently holds the sixth and final playoff spot despite the loss to the Pacers.

Youngman opened the Pacers' scoring at the 17:16 mark when she finished a through ball from Desi Rill.  Just over a minute later, Youngman finished a VonItter cross from the right flank to double the Marywood lead.

In the 26th minute, Neumann would make the game interesting again when Danni Elman split the Marywood defense and found Jamie King, who beat Aly Moyer and cut the Pacers' lead in half.

The Pacers got some breathing room early in the second when Moken broke through the midfield and defense and blasted home a 7-yard shot for an unassisted goal in the 54th minute.

Moken would then close the scoring on the day by finishing a pass from Desi Rill in the 83rd minute, making the game 4-1.

Marywood had a 35-8 advantage in shots on goal (20-4 shots on goal) and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

Moyer made three stops in goal for the Pacers while Brittany Cullison had 16 saves for the Knights.

Marywood can clinch the top seed and a first round bye in the CSAC post-season tournament with a win over Keystone College Thursday night. The Pacers will host the Giants at 7:00 pm.  Prior to their game the Pacers will honor seniors Dani Rill and Emily Kotcho.
