Women's Soccer Locks Up Top Seed with Senior Day Shutout

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood Univeristy locked up the top seed in the upcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) women's soccer tournament with a dominating 8-0 win over Keystone College on Senior Day at Marywood.  The Pacers moved to 11-5 overall and 10-1 in the league.  Keystone concluded their season at 5-10-1 (4-7 CSAC).

Marywood honored seniors Dani Rill and Emily Kotcho prior to and after the game. Marywood earns the top seed in the CSAC playoffs by virtue of a head-to-head win over Centenary, who also finished with a 10-1 league mark.

Renae Moken got the Pacers on the board in the fifth minute of play, deflecting a Desi Rill one-time shot that came on a Julie Youngman corner kick off her shoulder and into the back of the net. Both Rill and Youngman were credited with assists on the play. Three minutes later, Jackie VonItter scored unassisted after making a move around a defender and shooting from 15 out.

Forty-three  seconds later,  Moken notched her 14th goal of the season when Megan Swieckicki slotted her and she put it away from just outside the six-yard box.  Kotcho would then get in on the senior day fun, taking a feed from VonItter and sending one to the far upper-ninety from the corner of the 18-yard box for her sixth goal of the year.

Ashley Kruchinsky buried her fifth goal of the season in the 40th minute of a Youngman helper. Then, Youngman got in on the scoring, taking a Moken feed in on a breakaway with 2:09 left in the half, giving the Pacers a 6-0 lead at the break.

Fifteen minutes into the second, Grace Feeser scored her third of the year off a helper from Michaela Smith, and Sam Lindquist closed the scoring in the 75th with her first goal of the year as she touched home a Paige Bechtle drop pass right on the goal line.

The Pacers dominated the stats column, outshooting the Giants 37-6 (25-1 on goal) and having seven corners to two for Keystone.

Aly Moyer, Bella DiToma (one save) and Haley Taylor combined for the clean sheet.  Rebekah Shepherd and Sarah Heintz each played a half in goal for the Giants.

Marywood will host the lowest-remaining seed after Monday's first round matchups, which feature #6 Immaculata at #3 Cabrini and #5 Neumann at #4 Gwynedd Mercy.  #2 Centenary will host the next lowest remaining seed.
