Misericordia Tops Field Hockey in Regular Season Finale

Dallas, Pa. – A goal in each half was all Misericordia University needed to defeat visiting Marywood University in non-conference field hockey action in what was the regular season finale for each team.

Misericordia improved to 10-8 and will head into the Freedom Conference playoffs on a seven game winning streak while Marywood drops to 5-12 and will travel for their CSAC semifinal matchup.

A unassisted tally from Michaela Halesey in the 11th minute of action proved to be the game-winner for the Cougars.

Colby Eldridge knocked in her 11th goal of the season in the 41st minute of play to provide the hosts with an insurance goal.

Misericordia held a 10-9 lead in shots, with both squads placing seven on goal.

Kerri Mountz made four saves in goal for the Pacers. Natalie Martine had a defensive save while Kenzie Drew had four shots, three of which were on goal. Lindsey Gladden placed both of her shots on frame.

Marywood had six penalty corners to that of one for Misericordia.

The Pacers, who are the #3 seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference playoffs, will travel to Radnor Wednesday to take on #2 Cabrini in one of two semifinal matchups.

The other CSAC semifinal features top-seed Gwynedd Mercy and #4 Immaculata.  The winners of the semifinal matchups will meet Saturday for the CSAC Championship and a automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.
