Men's Soccer Escapes Clarks Summit with 2-0 Shutout

Clarks Summit, Pa. – After more than an hour of scoreless men's soccer, Marywood University escaped with its first Colonial States Athletic Conference win of the season. The Pacers noticed a 2-0 victory over Clarks Summit University on Wednesday afternoon.

Zac Lloyd scored both of the Marywood goals. Tom Cuffari assisted on both scores.

Michael Mejia finished with three saves for his third clean sheet of the year.

The Pacers (4-5, 1-2 CSAC) ended the scoreless impasse with the game's first goal in the 68th minute. Cuffari took a shot that was saved by Defenders' keeper Evan Rarick. It took a Marywood bounce and sat easily for Lloyd to tap it into the goal.

Ten minutes later, Marywood doubled its lead with the same culprits. Cuffari crossed from the left side to set up a Lloyd header that caromed off the post and into net for his fifth of the year.

Mejia made all three of his saves in the final 20 minutes. Eric Irizarry hit a shot in the 86th minute but Mejia swatted it away to ensure his fourth victory.

Marywood will take on Cairn University on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
