Volleyball Splits CSAC Match

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University split a Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball tri-match with Notre Dame of Maryland University and Centenary Saturday afternoon.  Notre Dame (Md.) defeated the Pacers 3-0 before the hosts rebounded for a 3-0 win over Centenary to end the day.

The Gators defeated the Cyclones 3-0 to leave Scranton with a 2-0 mark.  Marywood now stands at 5-14 (4-1 CSAC) after playing four conference games in the last three days.

Marywood 3, Centenary 0

Marywood improved to 5-13 (4-1 CSAC) with a 3-0 win over the Cyclones to close the tri-match Saturday.  The Pacers won by scores of 25-8, 25-13 and 25-14.  Centenary fell to 1-12 (0-5 CSAC) with the loss.
Amanda Fullem led the Pacers with seven kills.  Melissa Krueger had eight assists.

Peri Sheerin had a match-high 14 kills for the visitors while Sam Compton added nine.

Notre Dame (Md.) 3, Marywood 0

To start the day, Notre Dame of Maryland University continued their hot play on the season, sweeping the Pacers 3-0 and handing Marywood their first conference loss of the year.

Coupled with their three-set (25-7, 25-12, 25-11) win over Centenary mid-afternoon, the Gators improve to 17-3 (5-1 CSAC).

Against the Pacers, the Gators won by scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-20. Sarah Sweet led a 31-kill attack for the Gators with 11 of her own.  Sheerin had a match-high 12 kills for Marywood. Annie Heyen had 20 assists and three service aces for the Pacers while Jamie Reyes led the match with 27 for the Gators.

Marywood travels to take on Wilkes in non-conference action Monday night at 7:00 pm in Wilkes-Barre.
