Marywood Defense Tested in 1-0 Loss to Vassar

Pacers outshot 28-0, Mountz has 15 saves

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Host Vassar College edged out Marywood University 1-0 in the 2017 opener for both teams.  The Brewers outshot Marywood 28-0 (20-0 on goal), but Kerri Mountz made 15 stops to keep the Pacers within striking distance all 70 minutes.

In addition, Marywood had four defensive saves, three of which came from Tori Jo Kakusian, the reigning CSAC Defensive Player of the Year.  Sara Marshall also picked up a defensive save for the Pacers.

Vassar ended the 0-0 stalemate with just over eight minutes left as Cristina Lopez backhanded a shot over Mountz's shoulder into the cage for the game-winner.

Marywood will take on Manhattanville College, who lost 8-0 to SUNY Geneseo, tomorrow at 1:00 pm.
