Women's Soccer Drops Opener to Albright, 1-0

Lions score 12 minutes into second half for win

Box Score

Scranton, Pa. - Albright College scored 12 minutes into the second half and held off Marywood University as the Lions took the 2017 season opener for both teams in non-conference women's soccer action. Marywood held a 15-13 shot advantage for the game.

The Lions (1-0) started strong with several early scoring chances, forcing Aly Moyer to make three saves in the first 12 minutes of the game.  In the 22nd minute, Marywood got a great look as transfer Renae Moken rocketed one off the crossbar from 25 out.

The score remained deadlocked at the half despite several other opportunities for each team, with both teams taking six shots in the half (3-2 Marywood on goal).

Twelve minutes into the second stanza, Albright got the break they were looking for.  Daniella LoBue's long pass into the box from the left flank richoceted off the head of Emily Mollica, and Moyer could not get back across the box before Crissy Teraces tapped the ball home on the goal line to put the Lions up 1-0.

Marywood had several chances to tie, including Jackie VonItter's effort in the 81st minute that also hit the woodwork and Emily Kotcho's lazer that sailed just wide left in the 82nd minute.

For the game, Marywood held a 15-13 shot advantage, with Albright placing seven shots on goal to Marywood's four.  Moyer made a game-high six stops in net while her counterpart Alexis Tunney made four for the Lions in the shutout.

Albright had four corners to Marywood's three.

The Pacers return to action Tuesday when they travel to Annville to take on Lebanon Valley College at 4:00 pm.
