Volleyball Loses Three Tight Sets at Ursinus

Collegeville, Pa. – Marywood University fell short in three sets that were all settled by three or fewer points in a 3-0 loss to Urisinus College Tuesday in non-conference women's volleyball. The Pacers were short by scores of 25-22, 25-22, 25-23 to remain winless after six matches.
 
Offensively, the Pacers were led by Gabriella Santos' nine kills and two aces. Katherine McGrath had six kills on 12 attempts for a team-best .333 attack percentage.
 
Sam Compton totaled 18 digs from the back row. Jordan Vossler contributed 12 digs. Annie Heyen contributed with 24 assists.
 
In the first set, the Pacers rallied late when trailing 23-16. Off of Heyen's serves, Marywood scored five straight points to cut the deficit to 23-21. Ursinus scored both of its final two points on set errors.
 
Marywood stayed within arm's length during the second set, trailing merely 23-22. The Bears won set point on a block by Taylor McCartney and Miranda Foster.
 
In the third, the Pacers scored four straight points and tied the set at 22 apiece on a McGrath ace. Following a bad set to give the Bears the serve, Foster totaled two kills to seal the victory.
 
Allison Raff led the Bears with eight kills.
 
Marywood travels to Dallas, Pa. for a tri-match against Misericordia and Alvernia on Friday.
