Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Marywood Falls at Scranton

Scranton, Pa. - Jamie Hreniuk had a hat-trick and Kelly Pompey added two goals as the University of Scranton women's soccer team defeated visiting Marywood University 6-2 in non-conference action Wednesday night at Fitzpatrick Field.  The Royals move to 3-2 while Marywood slipped to 0-4.

Mazie Stiles added two assists for the hosts.  Marywood's goals came from Renae Moken and Ashley Kruchinsky as the Pacers now have six goals from six different players on the year.

Hreniuk and the Royals started fast, breaking through the left side and jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the second minute when Stiles found Hreniuk for her fourth goal of the year.  Hreniuk then scored two more in a row, one in the 13th minute and one in the 18th, both unassisted.

Marywood got on the board in the 21st minute when Moken finished off a Megan Swiecicki cross from the corner of the 18.

Scranton built off their 3-1 halftime lead quickly, as Pompey scored her first goal just :46 into the half.  She added another in the 64th minute as the Royals built a 5-1 lead.

Kruchinsky cut the Pacers' deficit to 5-2 in the 74th minute.  Moken crossed the ball into the box to the far post from the right flank, and Shea Olzewski redirected it across the goalmouth.  A Scranton defender attempted to clear the ball out, but Kruchinsky was there to head it home from the goal line.

The Royals finished the scoring in the final minutes when Corinne McDonald notched her third goal of the season with 1:05 left in the game.

Scranton outshot Marywood 17-9 (12-5 on goal). Aly Moyer made six stops for the Pacers while Colleen Berry made three for the Royals.

The Pacers open CSAC play Saturday when they host Cairn University (1-2) at 4:00 pm.
