Men's Soccer Finishes Off Devils for 2-1 Win

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University returned to the win column with a 2-1 victory over Fairleigh-Dickinson University-Florham Saturday in non-conference men's soccer. The Pacers rebounded from a one-goal deficit with a pair of goals in a 100-second time frame.

Dylan McMahon scored the game-winning goal in the 20th minute. Cody Gangaware hit a shot that caromed off the left post. The ball took a bounce to the far side where McMahon lifted it over the goalkeeper for the lead.

Two minutes earlier, Zac Lloyd connected on an equalizer. Carlos Perez sent a cross in front of the goal from the left side. Lloyd converted the opportunity from 10 yards out.

FDU-Florham had the momentum off of the whistle. John Timmes played a ball through the midfield, and Ricky LaStella converted his second attempt after his first was saved in the seventh minute.

Marywood had a great chance for an insurance goal in the 41st minute. Ian Byrnes kicked an excellent throughball to set up a one-on-one chance for Cole Belcher, who sent his shot just high of the cross bar.

Michael Mejia made six saves in goal. FDU-Florham's JT Bretschneider had three stops.

Marywood (2-3) outshot FDU-Florham 17-15 but the Devils (0-6) had a 7-5 advantage in shots on target. The Pacers had seven corner kicks to the Devils' four.

The Pacers hit the road Tuesday to face St. Joseph's College in Long Island.
