Late Cyclones' Flurry Takes Down Men's Soccer in CSAC Opener

Hackettstown, N.J. – Centenary University scored four goals in the final half hour to defeat Marywood University 4-0 Wednesday in the Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer opener. The reigning CSAC champions put together three in a five-minute span to oust the Pacers.

The Cyclones scored the first goal in the 63rd minute on a double assist. Daniel Lamanna tapped it into Justin White inside the 6 yard line. White tripped the Pacers' goalkeeper, and Roger Fernandez finished it off for a 1-0 lead.

Two minutes later, White again assisted a Cyclone goal. He played a ball through to Richy Castro, who beat the keeper on a 1-on-1 chance.

In the 68th minute, White tallied his fourth point of the contest with a goal from Castro. White received the ball outside of the 18 yard line and maneuvered for a shot on goal.

Jared Miele capped the scoring in the 75th minute. On a White corner kick played to the far post, Miele headed to near-back post.

White finished with a five-point effort, having a share of each of the Cyclones' four goals.

Michael Mejia made three saves in 65 minutes of action. In his first appearance, Mike Gallagher made one save in 25 minutes.

Centenary outshot the Pacers by a 26-11 clip, holding them to just two shots on target. The Cyclones had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Marywood looks to get back on the winning track when it hosts Immaculata University Saturday at 3:00 pm.
