Men's Soccer Blanks Wilkes on Cuffari's Goal

Michael Mejia makes eight saves for first career clean sheet

Edwardsville, Pa. - Tom Cuffari scored the game's lone goal to lift Marywood University to a 1-0 shutout of Wilkes University Sunday in a rain-soaked men's soccer matchup. The Pacers beat the Colonels for the third consecutive season, each settled by one goal. 

Cuffari took a Cody Gangaware pass and shot it to the low far post in the 44th minute. It was Cuffari's first career goal, and Gangaware's fifth career assist. 

Michael Mejia notched his first clean sheet in just his second collegiate start. Mejia made eight saves to keep the Colonels scoreless. 

Marywood owned a 16-12 advantage in shots and a 10-8 edge in shots on target. Wilkes had six corner kicks to the Pacers' five. 

The Pacers play their first home game of the year Wednesday when they take on Stockton University at 7:00 pm.
