Volleyball Falls at Gettysburg Tournament

Annie Heyen averages 6.38 assists per set in four matches

Gettysburg, Pa. – Marywood University dropped the first four matches of the women's volleyball season at the Gettysburg College Invitation this weekend. The Pacers fell to McDaniel College, Kenyon College and Arcadia University in three sets. Marywood fell short of Penn State Altoona in four sets.

The Pacers will look for their first win of the year at home Thursday night versus Penn State Harrisburg.

McDaniel 3, Marywood 0

The Pacers fell to the Green Terror by scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-17 in their opener on Friday night.

Peri Sheerin and Gabriella Santos had outstand games from the outside hitter slots. Sheerin had eight kills, four aces and a .300 attack percentage, while Santos totaled nine skills and a .273 attack percentage.

Freshmen Brenna Kelley and Sam Compton each totaled 10 digs off of the bench. The Pacers shot .210 from the field.

Kenyon 3, Marywood 0

The Ladies ousted the Pacers by scores of 25-15, 25-12 and 25-23 in Friday's nightcap.

Sheerin notched eight kills and three aces. Compton finished with nine digs. Annie Heyen recorded 18 assists.

Penn State Altoona 3, Marywood 1

Marywood won its first set of the season despite losing the match to the Lions by scores of 26-24, 20-25, 25-19, 25-20 on Saturday morning. The Pacers shot .098 from the court.

Santos finished with 10 kills and eight digs. Mikayla Attwood was a part of three blocks. Jordan Vossler recorded five aces and 16 digs. Heyen helped with 27 assists.

Arcadia 3, Marywood 0

The Knights prevailed in three tight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-20. The Pacers shot .165 for the match.

???????Sheerin set a new season by of 12 kills, committing five errors for a .226 attack percentage. Jordan Vossler stood out at the libero position with 21 digs. Heyen contributed on 17 assists.
