Second Half Separates Mighty Macs in Win Over Pacers

Immaculata, Pa. – Marywood University fell to host Immaculata University 97-69 in CSAC men's basketball action Saturday afternoon. The Pacers fell to 8-6 (3-5 CSAC) while Immaculata picked up an important point in the league standings and improved to 7-7 (4-4).

For the second straight game, a strong second half from their opponents downed the Pacers.  Marywood, who trailed Cabrini by three at the break Thursday, found themselves down just one (40-39) at the half Saturday against the Mighty Macs. But the hosts doubled up Marywood in the second half, outscoring them 58-29, to cruise to the win.

Thomas Swartz led Marywood with 14 points while Jeremy Ringland, Adam Boussatta and Jack DeGroot all had 11.

Mike Piekarski (34) and Jordan Ambrose (27) combined for 61 of Immaculata's points while Brandon McCullough added 12.

Immaculata shot 54.5% from the field and 47.6% from beyond the arc, knocking down 10 from long range.  Marywood was held to 39.6% shooting for the game and made just four of 14 threes.  The Pacers were 50% from the field and beyond the arc in the opening stanza but were held to 7 of 24 shooting from the floor and 1 of 8 shooting from long range in the second.

The Mighty Macs also forced 20 Marywood turnovers while committing just eight of their own. They would score 33 points off of those Marywood miscues.

Marywood travels across I-80 Wednesday for a league showdown at Centenary University in Hackettstown, N.J. Tip-off is set for 8:00 pm.
