Pacers Hold Off Centenary, Snap Skid

Hackettstown, N.J. - Marywood University snapped it's two game slide in men's basketball as the Pacers picked up an important league win at Centenary University Thursday night, 62-59.  James Curley made two late free throws and Jeremy Ringland stole the inbound pass from the Cyclones to seal the win as time expired.

Marywood moves to 9-6 overall and 4-5 in the CSAC. Centenary fell to 3-12, 1-8 CSAC.

Thomas Swartz led Marywood with a game high 18.  Curley had 17 while Donovan Catchings added 10. Curley's game best 10 boards gave him his first double double of the season. The hosts were led by Chris Labelle's 16 point effort while Larry Joseph (14) and Greg Robinson (13) joined Labelle in double digits.

Marywod built a 10-0 lead over the game's opening five minutes of play.  A pair of free throws from Robinson at the 14:39 mark ended that streak and the two teams entered the break with just five points separating them as the Pacers held a 29-24 lead.

Centenary took a brief 42-41 lead with just under ten minutes to play, but a quick 9-0 burst from the Pacers put them back up from good.

For the game, Marywood shot 50% from the floor while limiting Centenary to 35% shooting. The Pacers also hit 6 of 12 three's and while Centenary hit seven, they were just 35% on their 20 attempts from long range.

Marywood enjoyed a 39-29 edge on the glass and led for over 90% of the contest despite committing 20 turnovers on the night. Centenary could only turn those miscues into seven points in transition.

Marywood must quickly turn around as they host league leading Cabrini University tomorrow night at 7:00 pm in the Insalaco Arena.
