Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Swartz's Game High Not Enough in Loss to Cabrini

Scranton, Pa. - Thomas Swartz had a game high 30 points and Jeremy Ringland added 25 but it was not enough as Cabrini University topped the Pacers 87-76 in CSAC men's basketball action Friday evening at the Insalaco Arena.  The Cavaliers improved to 14-2 (9-1 CSAC) with the win, while Marywood slipped to 9-7 (4-6).

Cabrini's Tyheim Monroe scored 28 points to lead five visitors in double digits. Monroe also grabbed a game-best 17 boards to complete a double-double.

The Cavaliers came out hot from long range, scoring their first 18 points of the game on six three pointers.  Marywood hung around though, and despite a step-back three from Monroe at the buzzer trailed the Cavaliers by just 10 at the break.

A 6-0 burst from Marywood to start the second got the Pacers to within four, but Cabrini called a timeout to end that run and then kept the Pacers at bay.  A three from James Curley with 17 minutes to play got Marywood to within three (44-41) but Cabrini again answered and extended their lead back to a comfortable margin.

The Cavaliers, who shot 49.2% from the field and 50% from three point range from the game, also got double figure performances from Keith Blassingale (18), Deryl Bagwell (13), Trey Smith (12) and Anthony Wright-Downing (11).  Bagwell added seven assists, six of which came in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Marywood travels to Cairn Monday. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm in Langhorne.
