Swartz's Career Best Leads Marywood to Important Road Win

Langhorne, Pa. - Thomas Swartz recorded another career high as the junior scored a game high 33 points to lead Marywood University to an important 73-62 road win at Cairn University Monday evening. The Pacers' win keeps them in the CSAC playoff hunt and improves their record to 10-7 (5-6 league).  Cairn fell to 5-11 (2-9) with the loss.

Swartz set a career high mark in a loss to Gwynedd Mercy at the end of November, and topped that by one point in the win tonight.  He was 11-of-16 from the floor and 5 of 8 from long range, and made all six of his free throw attempts in the win.

Jeremy Ringland added 15 for Marywood on 6 of 11 shooting.  Cairn got 31 from Malachi Hall in the loss.

Both teams shot well from the floor, with Cairn knocking down 44.2% of their efforts and Marywood hitting at a 45.6% clip.  The Pacers were 15 of 17 from the charity stripe on the night while the Highlanders missed six of their 18 attempts. The Pacers held the advantage on the glass, grabbing 32 boards to 27 for the hosts.

The win guarantees Marywood a 10-win season for the sixth time in program history.

With Cairn up 21-17, Marywood used a 9-0 run to take control.  The Pacers would go into the break up six, 31-25.

Cairn clawed back into the game and found themselves down just one several times in the second half, and trailed 55-54 with 4:27 to go before James Curley knocked down a three for Marywood.  Cairn answered at the other end with a layup, but Swartz hit Marywood's second trey in a row to provide some breathing room for the visitors.

The Highlanders would be held to just six points from there on out, and Marywood sealed the game on the charity stripe.

The Pacers travel to nearby LaPlume Wednesday night to face Keystone College at 8:00 pm.
