Snyder Becomes First Marywood Diver to Qualify for NCAA Zone Meet

Scranton, Pa. – Courtney Snyder became the first Marywood University diver to qualify for the NCAA zone meet on Friday. Marywood fell to both the University of Scranton and Misericordia University in both meets.

The Royals defeated the Pacers by 223.5-56.5 in the men and 211-82 in the women. The Cougars beat the Pacers 163-82 in the men and 148-133 in the women.

Snyder broke the school record in the 3-meter dive with a score of 429.23. She qualified to compete at the zone meet in March at Ithaca College. Snyder finished in first place in the event.

Snyder also won the 1-meter dive as well with a 215.03. The Pacers took three of the top four slots. Jess DeFranco was third with 181.95 and Bri Koehnke cataloged a 180.75 for fourth.

Mia Nardone took second in the 200 free with a time of 2:05.17, setting a new season best by 73-hundredths of a second. She was also second in the 200 IM with a 2:22.01.

Blake Burlingame touched second in the 50 free in a time of 22.53 seconds. Burlingame came just nine-hundredths of a second short of winning.

Justin Stonier took second in both men's dives. He registered a 133.28 in the 1-meter and a 142.8 in the 3-meter.

Marywood acknowledged Snyder, Allison McCarthy, Blair Lehman, Virginia Cobb, Shanna Carwell, Burlingame and Mike Freeman with a Senior Day ceremony before the meet.

Marywood will travel to Huntingdon, Pa. next weekend for a Landmark Conference showdown with Juniata College.
